Labels & Linings

During her time with Coach Leatherware, Bonnie Cashin's handbags saw an evolution in both tags and linings. To date these, I have cross-referenced extant handbag examples with archival sources. Please note that the progression isn't linear; we do see some overlap on the timeline.

Around 1975 we see the introduction of the now-iconic Coach creed, or "story patch". The creed continued to evolve through the 70s to include unique registration numbers (it wasn't until 1994 that style numbers were included in the formatting). Cashin's contract with Coach ended in 1974.
